In April we celebrate World Autism Day. Last Wednesday Jeff’s company, P2V Systems, had a Wear-It-Blue day at the office to raise funds for the charities supporting the cause.
World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognised day. It was proposed by the United Nations representative from Qatar. Since its inception, autism awareness and research around the world has increased as a result. World Autism Day is also one of only four official health-specific UN Days. The day itself brings individual autism organisations together all around the world to aid in things like research, diagnoses, treatment, and overall awareness for those with the disorder.
For the occasion, not only Jeff wore it blue, but he also wanted a blueish shade on his face (RIP, blue eyeshadow)… His original idea was that of dressing up like a smurf, but we had some problems to find the hat. Here you can see him before leaving for the office, and, in the last picture, with Graeme – one of the company’s partners – at the office. That’s the clear proof that doing good, most of the times, is also fun!
I thank Graeme and P2V Systems for the permission to publish these pictures. I think it’s a wonderful initiative!
And you? Did you wear it blue? 😉
